Often we see ourselves as rebels, often we see ourselves as righteous human beings, sometime we want to be a revolutionary too, such is a time we are living in. The system itself has become a nexus of crony capitalist, corrupt leaders and traders of humanity.
We try to vent out this righteous rebellion and ethical side of ours through various means like wearing T-Shirt printed with Che Guevara or Bhagat Singh or Gandhi. Often we opt for social media ; we post pictures of revolutionaries with their quotes, we post some Shero-Shayaris from Manto and similar people because they wrote about the injustice in the world and how unequal the society has become.
But even after all this, the big question still remains unanswered, "Do all such things really help ? Or do all such things just pacify our sour conscious by giving us a feel-good factor of us doing something worthwhile."
I reckon it makes no point at the end of it all when we fail to take stand in the times of utmost need. There is no point in posting Che's revolutionary quote on social media and doing nothing when your batch-mate sets your vehicle on fire, there is no point in posting about ethics or morals and turning a blind eye when some big shot so called social worker does exactly opposite of it, just because we know them or we are associated with them. There is no point in pleading about the issues farmers are facing on social media and doing nothing in real world to solve them. There is no point in boasting about gender equality and anti-women behavior and settling the charges when your brother or son behaves exactly the opposite with some girl.
The real test of our character or rather our righteous persona is when we have to take stand against our own people. Anyone would happily criticize Modi or Trump or Pandya for their all deeds since they aren't related to us, but would we be able to stand our ground when our brother, father or neighbor does it ?
